Soko Banish Patch 1.5.1


Soko Banish 1.5.1 has just been released, alongside version 1.4.2 of the editor. The update fixes most of the bugs on the known bugs list, replacing the rather useless hint system with full solution replays, and more. A patch to update from version 1.5.0 can be found in the game's download section on the official website.

Game changes:

General

  • The hint system has been replaced with full solution replay.
    • See the "Controls" section for special keys during playback.
    • Push notation now matches the standard LURD format.
  • Frame rate now tries to match screen refresh rate (smoother).
    • Add "hz=[number]" to settings.ini to force a frame rate.
  • Sound effects for pushing and saving.
  • Support for showing messages at the bottom of the screen.
  • Rune circles are added automatically if a level is missing any.

Bugfixes

  • Deco01 no longer appears as a wall in certain skin settings.
  • The mouse cursor no longer turns invisible outside the game window.
    • Fixed a bug that could make the cursor permanently invisible.
  • Floor & breaking tiles can now use transparency and alpha channels.
  • Shadows always go in front of breakable floors.
  • The game no longer starts in testing mode if not aborted properly.
    • Settings now save correctly when closing the game window.
  • Shadows on custom walls will consistently load when testing.
    • Custom wall #00 shadow settings no longer affect animated poles.
  • Fixed potential performance issues when creating a new profile.
  • Hotkeys are now disabled as intended while level info is open.
  • Fixed various problems with long text throughout the game.

The editor has also been updated to Level Creator 1.4.2, fixing many bugs and adding features such as hiding layers and a recent file history. It also supports adding intro messages to levels, which are shown when the level starts (in game version 1.5.1). Simply download it and replace the executable and help file with the new files from the zip.

Editor changes:

  • Fill + overwrite replaces an area of connected identical elements.
  • Support for intro messages (shown when the level starts).
  • Recent file history is now tracked in the File menu.
  • Layers can be hidden via the Options menu.
  • The player element can now be grabbed like other elements (G).
  • Made rectangle tool more reliable in overwrite mode.
  • Local skins now update when saving into a different folder.
    • No longer reloads skin on confirm settings if it wasn't changed.
  • Quickly cycling through levels no longer retains old level data.
  • Screen wipes should no longer flash player graphics on the screen.
  • Skin settings can no longer disappear if the game path changes.
  • Corrected some dialogue behaviour.
  • Various minor fixes.
